INTI artist

Inti is a Chilean artist who has traveled all over the world to do murals that are really big. He is a street artist who was influenced by "Latin American socialist murals and graffiti art." Street art in Chile has a long history and people like it a lot. The name Inti is also the Incan sun god. The Incans ruled during the 1400's to the 1500's in western South America including parts of Chile.

Inti has done murals in Paris (France), Atlanta (USA), Puerto Rico, and Poland. Inti really got into it in Valparaiso. This is where I saw one of his murals.

I thought the mural I saw was interesting because I like Inti's style and it has really bright colors. I spent a while looking at the painting we saw and thought it was very cool. Here are some more of my thoughts about this mural.

  1. The mural reminds me of a preist or a shaman. I think this because he has a bible and a lot of jewelry. Besides the man I also see a lot of little people hanging on to the man.
  2. What I recognize in this painting is a little chewbacca character and a couple of tiny people who are holding hands.
  3. To me this painting looks crowded because of all the jewerly and colors.
  4. I think it would be weird to live in the painting if I was a little person. I think this because most of the people in the painting are small and it might just be weird to live with a giant guy. If I did live in it I'd want to be the "chewbacca character".
  5. I think that Inti did a good job because most of the man is realistic and it looks awesome with the little people. I liked Inti's combination of cartoonish and realish style.

When I was looking at his other artwork I saw some other ones that I really liked. Most of the ones I liked were half human and half skeleton. Here's a link that you can go to see his art. (:

  1. Wow, that is a really impressive mural. I wonder how Inti could create so much detail on such a huge "canvas." You have some nice observations and thoughts about the mural. Of course, I like your version of the Inti mural; perhaps you could draw a special mural for me when you return home. Have fun exploring.
